Safety

The safety of our players is one of our highest priorities.  We have a written health and safety policy statement, a written child protection policy, and we have undertaken comprehensive health and safety risk assessments of all of our activities.  All of these documents are regularly reviewed and updated when necessary.

Although our “lazer” guns are completely “eye-safe”, and do not fire any harmful projectiles, as with any activity there is always the potential for injury. All players are required to sign an agreement which states that they accept the inherent risks involved with an outdoor activity such as this,

We have a comprehensive set of game rules and safety procedures (see below) which we expect all players to abide by, in order to reduce the risk of injury so far as is reasonably practicable.  All players are given a safety briefing before being permitted to play.  Furthermore, all games are carefully supervised by our experienced marshals, who check to ensure that the safety rules are strictly obeyed by players:

Game Rules and Safety Procedures

  • Please watch your step; the uneven and natural terrain that makes outdoor lazertag enjoyable can add to the risk of injury. Play sensibly, and avoid horseplay.
  • Lazertag is a non-contact sport – no physical contact, simulated physical contact, or other aggressive behaviour is allowed.
  • Treat all other players with respect and courtesy.
  • Lazertag is a physically challenging activity; please inform a marshal if you feel unwell at any time.
  • Do not do anything which may cause injury to either yourself, or other people.
  • Do not climb on props (e.g. barriers, huts, etc).  Do not climb trees.
  • Do not move, or attempt to move, any props (e.g. barriers, huts, etc).
  • Only equipment supplied by Covert Combat is to be used on the gaming ground. No firearms, firecrackers, smoke grenades, paintball guns or airsoft (ball bearing) equipment may be used on the gaming ground under any circumstances.
  • No objects may be thrown.
  • No smoking, drinking of alcoholic drinks, or use of illegal substances is permitted on the game ground.  No person shall participate whilst under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. If you choose to smoke outside of Covert Combat’s grounds, please dispose of your cigarette butts sensibly and safely.
  • No glass containers or bottles are permitted on Covert Combat’s grounds.
  • No one may leave the gaming ground with any of Covert Combat’s equipment.  Stay within the defined game boundaries at all times.
  • If the pause signal (a long whistle blow) is given, all players must cease fire and hold their position whilst awaiting instructions from the marshal.
  • Players must obey the marshals’ instructions, and abide by their decisions, at all times.
  • Eye protection provided must be worn at all times when playing in the woodland area.
  • To reduce manual handling, hold your gun close to your body (not at arm’s length) wherever possible. Feel free to rest your gun on top of barriers, or to lie on the ground and rest your gun on the floor whilst shooting.
  • In the event of thunder/lightning storms or other severe weather, players must follow the marshals’ instructions to be taken to a place of safety.
  • If encountering any member of the public on the gaming ground, please (politely and nicely) direct them to a marshal.
  • Guns must not be pointed at members of the public in a way which could cause distress, intimidation or fear. Do NOT shoot your guns at anybody not involved in the game.
  • Please respect the countryside and the wildlife.
  • For safety reasons, marshals may impose a “minimum distance between players” rule. Players should listen carefully during the pre-game safety briefing for details.
  • Players must not remove the sensors from their hat unless directed to do so by a marshal.  Players must not cover, or attempt to cover, their sensors.

Please note that the penalties for breaching these Game Rules and Safety Procedures are simple: you will be disqualified from the game(s), and required to leave the site, without refund.
